Default My first Flower Post

Im really new to photography, but I wanted to see what people thought of my first Macro flower post.

I really am just shooting how I see it, I don't know many techniques yet.

Thanks

Even though you took the picture in macro mode, it's not a true macro. I would call it a closeup of flowers, very pretty indeed.

For a true macro shot, one has to really get into their subject. Must be selective and show details. And, IMHO, a detailed section should appear tack sharp, which should demonstrate control of depth of field.

I would suggest you study the rules of composition and look at a lot of images by the masters. And even more important, take and study many, many pictures.

I've looked at your flickr images, and there is one spectacular "macro" of a spider and its web. I do find fault with your decisions to always place your subject in the center.

An example of looking inside an orchid:

thanks so much for the critique. I appriciate and value your opinion. I am very new to photography and I need to learn the termology for sure. I just love taking photos so much. I will surely take your advice andn learn the rules of composition and place my subject in ohter places besides the middle. Once again thanks for the direction and advice.

And Robert, after you practice, learn, and get experience, two things will become apparent:
1. Learning will always be "a work in progress."
2. Rules can be broken!

BTW, on Sunday, I lent a macro lens to a woman to use on her D80. I found her crawling under a bed of flowers to get the back light and composition she wanted, It was chilly and the ground was wet. She got into what she saw.

@Chris, post one, I'd like to take a look.
