Smile hmmm....

umm maybe choose a better flower because the flower is slightly damaged. light is diffused well and leaving the background dark to make the flower emphasized is brilliant but i think you picture more better than me. im just a beginner

In my opinion, the border makes the photo look very cheap. I know it's nice to take pretty pictures of pretty flowers (I've done this too) but this photo is pretty boring. The subject is stuck in the middle and here it doesn't really work. As a learning-to-photograph kind of photo it's alright, but there are a gazillion photos exactly like this one out there. If you're interested in macro photography I suggest you go and find subjects out of the 'normal' (bugs and flowers) or find different point of views.

Hi, im no expert and just learning about photography as well but have a luv for macro. Im currently using my 18 - 55 lense with plus1,2,3 filters a much cheaper option to that prime lense(on my wish list) or try for a set of extention tubes. The other tip i was given was to change my aperture to F22( i was using 5.6) this gives you greater depth of feild making sure you have every thing in focus, use levels after to darken your back ground and or use the burn tool to darken light spots and corners. Try different angles and most of all have fun
I have some of my marco up on flickr if you wish to have a look its not perfect but getting better.
Cheers
