I took this one outside my apartment with my Sigma 70-300mm macro lens. I don't really like the brownish butterfly against the brown background... am I right in thinking that the brown kinda overpowers the shot? Also, how is the focusing? Does the wing only being half in focus look interesting and creative, or does it just look stupid? Is it cool the way it is, or should I have used a smaller aperture so that more of the butterfly was in focus? How is the composition? Anything else I could have done better? Thanks a lot for any advice!

I think a smaller aperture would've looked better.
A fully sharp object and a nicely blurred background looks fantastic. Also the purple dots on the butterfly attract attention, so it's an important spot to have in focus. The brown background is unfortunate indeed. I like the composition.
