try to redo the shot with the flower on the right to leave some room for the flower to fall on it, second experiment with F stops to get a better DOF and a cleaner background - this way you avoid the distraction from the flower

It is always difficult when time prevents you from really getting the shot you want. Here are a couple of things I see: 1.) You are right about asking about the positioning in the frame. I would have put the flower on the right side of the frame. The flower is 'looking' to the left and, for me anyway, the eye will be drawn more in that direction. 2.) I agree with Rudy, open the aperture to give a shallower DOF to allow the viewer to focus on the subject of the shot. 3.) I find the large blade of grass with the dead tip to be distracting, it cuts right through the center part of the flower. Reducing DOF might help that, but for me, I would have gotten it out of the frame entirely. Jim
