Default Crepe Myrtle

Exif data
Camera Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi
Exposure 0.001 sec (1/2000)
Aperture f/5.0
Focal Length 63 mm
ISO Speed 100
Exposure Bias -2 EV
Flash Off, Did not fire

Okay, let's see if I loaded all the correct info??! I'm just beginning to play with the manual mode of my favorite camera and will hopefully begin a class after all the kids are back in school. Meanwhile, I'm just taking pics here and there and would love to see if I'm on the right track. This photo was just taken in my front yard. I'm doubting my sense of "interest" in my shots. I think this is pretty, but it just doesn't grab me like so many other pictures I see. So, what do I need to look for to make flower shots more interesting. Is the color okay? What would you have done differently?

PS - and why is everything I wrote underlined??
