Crawling to adulthood

Hi all,

I had captured this shot earlier this month. I have upped the saturation and contrast a bit and cropped the photo. However, i feel I have not got the desired sharpness and the image looks dull to me. Is it because I have not focussed well or could there be any other reason. your views would be very much appreciated.

My guess is that the problem lies with the crop. Your camera shoots at 12 MP, and your final image size is quite small, which makes me think you were pretty far from your subject and cropped it to death. Your camera appears to have a pretty good macro mode, with the ability to focus very close. Instead of standing back and relying on the crop to get the shot you want...get close...really close to take your shot. Get the framing you want in camera, avoid the crop, get a much sharper image.

Yes, I agree with kstiltne. I think the problem is the crop. You cropped it too tight. Maybe you could recrop it with more space at the right, left, and also at the top. Then it would look balanced.
