Default incense burner

this is my first attempt at a macro with the nikon l110. the lighting was basically right by the window and i did a minor levels adjustment in PS. the clarity seems to be OK but the l110 is finicky as hell when it comes to lighting sensitivity. i just got the cam yesterday so i am still figuring it out. any thoughts or comments?

The background is way too distracting. I think if you had a solid background and a little more light-you could really see the beauty of this piece.

the background was not intentional. i just threw the incense burner over by the window to see how my new camera would do on macro shots. i really dont consider this a macro as much just a plain ol' closeup. the detail is fine but getting in really tight is almost impossible (so far).

agree with skoggiel...even just for experiments, might be easier to get a good look with a plain background...or turn the experiment into a gorgeous shot
