Default Tigers Eye

As you can probably tell from my last posts i am a macro fan

Here is a good one i did not believe would actually come out.

Not sure if i got the focus wrong, his eye seems okay but his fur is fuzzy. I am still new at all this and now i have my DSLR i am having to learn what all the A,P,M,S stand for and what an ISO is.

Using my old point and shoot

Fujifilm FinePIx S5800
1/200s
ISO: 800
FL - 43.8mm

So, I am still learning at real photography (lol), But I think you could highlight the color a bit. But I really do see something in this no matter what. I see focus. And not the camera kind. Makes me only wish I could see what he/she is looking at. Grin. Nice.

I can defintely tell that this has been cropped in. You may want to try a telephoto zoom lens to achieve a similar photo that is more crisp.

I would prefer a centered crop of the cat's eye. Because his eye is approaching the upper left of the frame, it seems to me that the majority of the frame is capturing the space between the eye and nose...which, kind of throws me off as a viewer.

That's my two cents!

Lower your ISO next time to get a cleaner shot. You can use a larger aperture to compensate for the light loss while adjusting the ISO. Lean the camera on something next time to avoid shake.

I think the focus is actually pretty good. At least, when I zoom in and enlarge it as much as I can, the eye, lashes, and fur around the eye look pretty sharp. I like the composition, BTW. The iris is almost dead-on the power spot (rule of thirds), and you have it looking "in" to the picture. Very well done, and it gives the photo a lot of impact. If every picture is supposed to tell a story, I really think yours is saying, "What's for lunch?" I like it.

I think the fuzziness you see might be "noise" caused by the ISO being 800. Briefly, the ISO is a measure of the camera's sensitivity to light; the higher the ISO, the more sensitive to light, the faster a shutter speed one can use. The down side is that the higher the ISO, the more noise is introduced into the photo. (In the old days, we called this film grain.)

Like most things in photography, which ISO to use is a trade-off. I tend to shoot almost everything at ISO 200, because I was taught that (usually) grain is a bad thing. When it finally gets so dark that I am bumping my shins on things, I will then change the ISO to a higher setting. The trade-off? At 200, I have to open up my lens to its wide open aperture (losing depth of field), or adjust the shutter speed to the point that camera shake is inevitable. This is probably why my camera is almost permanently attached to my tripod!

Note to mods: Please let me know if my replies are inappropriate or should be posted elsewhere. I'm a noob, so I'm unsure if I'm breaking any unwritten rules.
