Default Tree peony

Tree peony

This was at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. I like the light -- not too glaring. The flower may be too dead center, though. Any comments appreciated. Thanks.

Dmatinc,

I like the light also and the focus is excellent. My advice would be to try a wider aperture to create more blur to take away the background distraction and I would crop the flower more tightly. Afterall, the picture is the flower. I think you can get away with the centering with a closer crop. Nice flower.

I am not a fan of shooting flowers during the day because of the odd, harsh shadows that the sun creates.

Sometimes, a flash will work - but most of the time, I try to only shoot photos of flowers at dawn or dusk!

I agree with Ron - cropping tighter leaving just the flower will help with the distracting background. If you want to be really radical and concentrate on the middle, what about cropping all background together with some petal edges?
