Default I too am saving for a Macro Lens

Iris

Exposure: 0.008 sec (1/125)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 55 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: -2/3 EV
Flash: No Flash

I took this picture with my 18-55mm lens at the focal length at 55mm. I like the composition and the color but it's not in focus. Is there anything I can do next time to make it sharp and in focus. Any suggestions would be appreciated. This is my first macro flower attempt.
Thank You,

Well you did not give the exif data, but I would say shoot at a higher f/stop number to get more depth of field.

OK I went to flickr and grabbed you data, which is:

Camera: Nikon D3000
Exposure: 0.008 sec (1/125)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 55 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: -2/3 EV

So, shout at a slower speed, higher ISO and close down the aperture to like f/11 and see what you get.

Thank you for the suggestion. Your timing is perfect, I was just going out to try again. Do I have to list the exif data when I post the picture from Flikr? I will edit the post with the info to be sure.

Other than the focus addressed earlier, I think this is a cool shot. And yes, EXIF data should be posted in the critique section. It makes it easier for people to suggest what you might adjust when asking for advice.
