Hi Briek, i like the sharpness of your shot. I would also try to bump up the aperture to enhance the focus on the head as well. Good contrast of the subject from the background. It usually works if your background is a bit darker from the subject. I usually do that as well. Looking at the background though, I find it a bit noisy. You can correct that by using certain software. Briek also next time please specify your questions, like asking your composition, exposure, sharpness, colours. There are so many specific questions to ask in your picture. Thank you.

I like it. Agreed that it would have been nice to have a little more sharpness in the eyes, and maybe even the top of the plant (cat-tail, I'm guessing?). Considering the short shutter speed, you should have a bit of play room in the aperature even if it's handheld. The only issue with making the background darker might be getting a good selection around the bits of fluff on the plant, but playing around is always fun.
