How can I improve this shot?

I shot this rose with the following

olympus e-520
40-150mm zoom lens
aperture f/7.1
exposure time 1/320
ISO 100
tiffen close up lens (+4)

How is the composition? How about the lighting?

I would have moved the flower into the shade or use something to diffuse the light. Nice capture but the sun is right on it.

I agree I would have diffused the sun if possible. I use an umbrella or have my kids stand there and shade the flower for me.

I also would have moved the flower right a touch more, it is a little centered for my personal taste.

I agree the light is harsh - it is easier to get this kind of shot on an overcast day. I like the composition and the background is very nicely blurred. Other than the harsh light, I think this is a very good photo.
