Default Beads of our Forefathers

Still haven't bought a macro lens, just a close up shot

Camera: EOS 50D
Lens: 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
Shutter speed: 1/6
Aperture: 10
ISO: 100
Flash: pop up flash
Filter: ND8 for a shallower depth of field

Please critique.

Thanks.

Well, it not a macro. The subject is unflatteringly lit with pop up flash. There's too much space around the beads. Your subject is boringly placed directly in the center. There's no creativity -- it just looks like you dumps a can of beads on a towel and too an amateur photo of them.

Why do you want a critique on this image?

Its not macro as indicated, just a close up shot. Thanks for the comments. This will allow me to improve on this new hobby since I started to shoot only a week ago.
