Default Inside a tulip- any suggestions?

I am very new to photography, and I'm really liking the macro shots. I took this while out walking around my neighborhood today, and I would love any suggestions for improvement. However, I only have a point and shoot and am not able to make very many adjustments

Phew!
That's an exceptionally good shot for "just a point-and-shoot". Goes to show how much the photographer makes the image, not the camera
Very nice composition and good focus!

Overall the image is a bit dark; perhaps due to vignetting in PP?
Also, if you can control it, I'd try to focus on the gynoecium instead of the petals.

What you can do with a point and shoot is improve lighting. Have you tried backlighting the flowers?
You can use a simple torch, or get yourself cheap flashes and remote triggers from ebay (flash ~ 40$, remote trigger ~$20).

Someone should buy you an SLR, as you're already taking amazing images like IMG_1635!
Keep up the very good work!

Regards,
Ludwig

Nice focus and sharpness...a bit underexposed but the vignetting works...Overall, good job.

wow, thanks for the compliments and suggestions- I have only really been taking these shots for about a week, and I am still trying to learn what my little point n shoot can do. I have been doing my best to learn the technicalities, like shutter speed, aperture, etc. but the frustrating thing is that I can't adjust the aperture and do some of the things you need to do to be able to learn how they affect the image. I think I might start saving up for a SLR, though.
