Default the drain spider

From drain spider

EXIF Summary: 0.3s f/5.7 ISO800 55mm

Camera-Specific Properties:

Camera Model: Canon EOS REBEL T1i

Image-Specific Properties:

Exposure Time: 0.3 sec
Exposure Program: Manual
ISO Speed Rating: 800
Lens Aperture: f/5.7
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Metering Mode: Spot
Flash: No Flash
Focal Length: 55 mm

in addition i used all three (13 ,21 ,and 31mm) of my optecka extension tube set. i shoot mostly in manual mode (and by trial and error). so i am wondering if this is properly exposed and composed. there are other photos in my picasa album but i like this one the best. any critique is welcome.

this spider has made a home in our bathroom sink, i didnt have the heart to wash him down the drain.

thanks for any help you can give.

Hi,
With extension tube, it's pretty hard to get a good depth of field. You need a tiny aperture (large f-number) to compensate the lack of depth of field. By reducing the aperture, you'll need a longer exposure time (and a tripod!!). Sometimes, you must even compensate with exposure bias (+1 or +2). By doing that, we'll see more of that spider even though it's not everytime enjoyable ;-)
Another thing, is it dirt on your lens that we see? This kind of dirt can be removed easily by cleaning or post processing.
ah, another thing... Your white balance is way too high. we can say that by the yellowish of your shot. You needed a white balance lower like 3,000K or if you are using WB setting, something like tungsten I think...
I hope this is useful and will help you improve. We all learned with trial and error. Keep shooting manually it is a good way to understand your camera!!
Have a nice day!
Franky

Default thanks

thanks for the tips.

the flecks are actually little divots in the porcelain sink, you are right i could just get rid of them in post process. i look forward to my second attempt with a large f number, tripod, long exposure, and proper white balance.

thanks for the critique
