Default The view from the door hook

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4055/...57ae67f5c1.jpg

Canon PowerShot A450
super-macro mode
shutter speed 1/250
f/2.8
focal length 5mm
ISO-80

Yesterday I read "Learning to See Creatively" Bryan Peterson. This one came to me after reading it.

I couldn't get those overexposed parts out. The hook came out to be too dark. Any ideas?

What a great concept! I love it, looks a little too soft on the hook..maybe it could be a little crisper....but I really dont have the experience to really say a whole lot. Great shot though.

It looks very good, but like you said, it is very difficult to see the details in the dark areas. I would suggest some sort of lighting, possibly strip lighting, pretty dim, just enough to brighten it up enough to see the details. And if not that, then even just a lamp or something with a sheet over it, perpendicular to the door, might give it a good effect.
Then a little work with the white-balance afterwards to get it looking right. I wouldn't worry too much about the over-exposed background, since it is out of focus anyways. In fact, if you could take this picture by zooming in and then backing up, to make the depth of field shallower, you might be able to make it blend together better.

You meant to do this, right?

and thanks Rotten, I'll try that. You should know that my camera is not a dSLR. It doesn't eve have a diaphragm to control the aperture. I use chdk to control shutter speed. And backing up won't work with my camera; it needs a minimum distance to focus in supermacro mode.
