Default I love Macro, but know nothing!

Here is my shot, I took it without a tripod and got it as clear as I could. I really like Macro, but need a lot of advise. Please tell me what you think. I take criticism very well, so don't hold back!

I don't know much about macro and I'm new to photography as well, so I don't know how much my opinion will help you. I def like your picture, however, I do wish that all of the butterfly was in focus. Other than that, I really like it

Yeah, I wish it was all in focus as well, I think it's the best I could do without a tripod, or at least I think. Does anyone have any tips on how I could have gotten a sharper image without a tripod?

I think you could have achieved a sharper image if you used a faster shutter speed. Seems like there wasn't enough light available there since you used an ISO of 1600. So I'm afraid that the image would come out very dark.

Maybe someone with more knowledge can shed some light?

I'm no expert, by any means, but I have learned that keeping the camera as still as possible makes a huge difference, especially for macro and low light shots. If you don,t own a tripod, leaning against anything to steady the camera does the same thing. Before I got a tripod, I carried a light but sturdy piece of lumber along for this purpose. happy snapping, Larry
