Default Bible Study Close Up

I'd like critiques on focus, composition and lighting, please.

God bless,

Being new, I'm not sure, so I thought I'd ask. If I don't get any critiques, does that mean the photo is a really good photo, or does it just mean no one felt like posting on it?

God bless,

Rowdy

I'm new myself here.... However, I don't know why but the little flare on the glasses bothers me a bit... Seems like it could be a lamp reflecting on the glass. Also, did you shoot in RAW? If so then you may be able to adjust the white balance as I think it's too yellowish. I'd say either try and shoot this again, or if you're good in post processing then try to adjust the two things I mentioned above. Good luck

Whatever the back lighting is appears to be much to strong........part of the Bible is completely blown out white. we tend to study by lamplight and that kind of lighting will offer some warmth to the shot. If the bible were open, then I would get more of the feel of studying......this shot looks more like somebody finished and went to bed...not bad if that is what you were after.......you are on the right track....you might want to change your setup a bit

I like the yellowish effect, however, I agree with Patrick about the lighting at the rear- It is too bright, and in my opinion, detracts from the "comforting " feeling of the overall picture. you could try using a softer bulb, or diffusing/deflecting the existing light. nice shot.

I like the idea odf placing reading glasses on top of the bible to tell that this is a photo about bible study.

As Patrick pointed out, I found the flare (perhaps from window light) distracting. I also didn't like the leaves on the background.

The Bible is black ( I guess) yet it looked greenish to me. The color on the table also looked too saturated.
