Default Apples

Hey so I am really new to photography, just wanted help to improve the shot. Any suggestions?

Nikon D40
ISO-360
f/8.0
1/125 -shutter
200mm

Welcome to DPS! Here are a few things I see off the top. First, it appears you have oversaturated this shot to the point that the green apples and grass are more alien than natural. I'd pull back on this in PP for more natural looking colors. Second, the composition almost feels like it would be better with just the one apple in the foreground rather than the two, because the second one is too far back to offer any dymanic for the frame, but it's so large and out of focus, that it draws your eye away from the main subject in a distracting way. Your focus and your DoF looks good, if a shallow depth was what you were after. But I'd probably give it another go trying the above suggestions and see how it looks.
