Hi, webphoto

That worked! I like the diagonal composition, and including the foreground bloom gives a sense of size for the bugs.

I might crop left and bottom, and fuss around with the bugs, lightening them just a little while darkening the background, and adding a subtle vignette around the perimeter. But it stands by itself as is, too. Sharp and interesting.

Hi jiminyClickit,

Did you mean something like this:

Please let me know if I did it correctly or if I have missed something, thank you
for the feedback and compliment, as a beginner, means alot.

Still saving for a true macro lens, but the 28-80 AF can focus so closely, I don't
mind waiting for that 105mm VR!

regards,

Devan

How do you like it? More bug, less fence seemed like a good idea. It's also the photographer's decision as to what he intended the image to be. I love Macro, so I think it's better this way.

Many good folks here at DPS got me to stay by offering encouragement and patience, so I'm trying to repay their goodwill, too. I'm glad to offer what little I know. While you're saving for that lense, you can learn a lot of skills to make the one you have work well, too.

Here's something to make you think: your original has a nice complementary color thing going (orange and bluish-green) and kind of a tableau left to right, so it has a character all its own. My suggestion was just another way of looking at a subject, not that your original wasn't fine the way it is. So sometimes having many people's opinion is the better way to know how you're doing. Just another reason DPS can help you learn a lot! Post a hundred more in Critique and you'll have a good idea where your improvement is.
