Hi, memes5cuties, Welcome to DPS

When you can, will you show your EXIF, the camera information (type of camera, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, etc.), please. It helps in Critique.

Welcome to DPS.

It's the person behind the camera that perceives the image that counts not the gear!

OK the gear can be a limitation as to when or if you can capture a particular scene - so you learn to what your kit is capable of. When I have traveled for work I often taken a P&S because not space for DSLR & security issues of keeping it with me all the time. I have captured many great memories of these trips.

Earlier this week I was at a display of birds of prey in flight & there was a pro photog next to me with a higher continuous shutter speed, better buffer, faster auto focus, faster lens with more suitable zoom range. That did not make me pack up & go home but I knew that only a few of the action shots might be 'keepers'. I got 5/6 reasonable photos out of 100+; not that any were up to magazine standard, but they provide a good memory of the event & a valuable learning experience.

You have a great capture for your first butterfly - the contrast of the black & white markings against the color of the flowers makes for an interest image. Well done.
