I took this picture a few years ago with my Nikon D40. I also upped the exposure a tad and added some Vignette in Aperture 2.
Aperture: f/6.3 Shutter Speed: 1/250 ISO: 200 ![]() A little about me: I love photography. I always have. I got my first digital camera back in 1999. Not until recently have I gotten a little more serious with it. I'm trying to gather as much information as I can about photography as well as my Aperture software so that I can create some stunning work. Last edited by tekmoe; 04-04-2010 at 01:18 AM. Normally, I would have gone for a tighter shot if possible as well.
However, because of the interesting leaf going from foreground to background, I really think this looks pretty good like it is. I might have shifted the entire shot to the right slightly to offset the subject a bit more, but I think this is pretty cool. A slightly tighter shot that still got the leaf the caterpillar is on would have had the same effect, perhaps. The technology behind it is science, but photography is an art, and I think the artist had it right this time, regardless of convention. My two cents.

Hi, tekmoe
Convention also asks for a limit to the photo size here on DPS, so could you go to Photobucket and resize your caterpillar to 740 pixels (or smaller) on the longest side, please? Much appreciated
