Default First try

I'm a brand new photographer, a week ago I didn't know an f-stop from a flamethrower! So I wanted to get in to photography and bought two books and a camera. Canon EOS 7D and the books 'Understanding Exposure" and "Understanding Close-Up Photography, both by Bryan Peterson. Man did I learn a lot in one week!!!! So I tried a macro shoot from stuff laying around the dining room and kitchen. I put a hammered aluminum bowl on the kitchen counter under a fluorescent light with a shiny red foil bow in the bottom. Then I put the camera on a tripod with a Tamron 180mm macro lens, set the aperture to 4. I'm not sure why. And took this pic. For someone who never held a DSLR until a week ago, I think it's pretty cool! I wanted to put another picture in this post showing how I did it, but they say only one photo, so I'll put the set up photo next post.

I didn't do my post right. Sorry. The pic was too big, and I didn't put the exposure info and so on. So it was a Canon EOS 7D, fstop 4, not sure what the shutter speed was. I just used the available light from the under cabinet fluorescent light. No flash because I figured I wanted the color reflections to show as they were. ISO was, ??
I already deleted the photo from the memory card so I can't go back and find all the info. That's the EXIF, right? I'll figure all this out soon enough. But anyway this newbie is happy to be here and hope I learn much from ya'll!

That is a fantastic shot! I love it! I would have never guessed what it was. Congratulations.

this is your EXIF data
Camera: Canon EOS 7D
Exposure: 0.01 sec (1/100)
Aperture: f/4.0
Focal Length: 180 mm
ISO Speed: 400
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: On, Fired

You can find it by clicking on "more properties" on flickr, on the right hand side of the screen.

In case you don't know, once you clicked "all sizes" don't use the large size, go to the medium first and then copy what's in the embed box

I hope it helped!

Thanks for sharing
