Here in Western North Carolina, the daffodils are budding out in full bloom. I thank my neighbors for allowing me to trespass on their property to take this shot. My camera is a Nikon D70 and I used a Macro Lens. I manipulated this image in Photoshop using the Curves feature as I was not happy with the background foliage. Do you use Photoshop to manipulate your images? Should this image have different lighting?
All comments are welcome. Thanks so much. |

First, let me say I am no experienced photographer! A total newb. But here's what I think. You didn't like the background foliage so you blacked it out. That seems cool to me. And the "Standard" flower macro has that good blurred but lit background. I like the difference in yours, it's dark back there but aesthetically I like it, it's different and artistic. Some would say incorrect, but to me, I see the Spring coming out of the darkness of Winter. I think it's cool as can be!!!

Hmm...it came out pretty good in my opinion. Just a bit lacking in light. (So yes, this photo should have different lighting).
I use Adobe Lightroom more than Photoshop. I think Lightroom's much more user friendly and a good software for photo editing especially to make minor adjustments like fill light, contrast, brightness, sharpness etc. |
