Smile Tempting Treats

Look at my new photos on page 2, please!
How is this shot? I have been told I should make the cookie more in focus but I was trying to strive for not the whole thing in focus. Just a few little crumbs on it. What do you guys think. Thanks a ton!

hey there,
I think DOF is entirely personal taste. I think your DOF is good since the colors in the bg would really start to take over the shot if you bring them in anymore.
Myself I would have rotated the cookie since the left side looks like it has been nibbled on, or I'd have taken a bite and shot the inside curve of the bite in sharp focus.
Always have fun with it though,

I agree with dodgeinart. I would have repositioned the cookie just a tad and I agree that DOF is matter of taste (pardon the pun) ... Still, I would have either sharpened it a little more or cropped out more of the bg to better make the point that the shot is about the crumbs moreso than the cookie itself. (Maybe that is the problem? Too much bg?). Also, I am distracted by the writing on the cup and the bright reflection of the light. Do you have more subtle cup you could use? The focus on the crumbs is excellent though and if that is what you were after, you most certainly did it and did it well.

Default Goin' try Again!

Thanks guys. I love being able to post my photos and get suggestions to make a lot better. I'm so glad I found this site! I'm going to try to take it again with the comments/feedback/suggestions I got. Less background, and better cup with less distractions. Got to go to the store and pick up some more cookies, they go fast! LOL!

Thanks Again!

Default Textures!

Hey! I made some edits to my previous image, (Haven't been able to get to the store yet.) Well I got interested in textures and decided to try to apply it to this image. How did I do? It takes away the awful glare which was a problem. Please comment on my implication of the texture but also still please comment on any other suggestions you have. In your comment can you say which one you like better please.

Thanks, you guys are the best.

Original shot:I am having some tea at the moment. Definately wish I had that cookie with me . I like the shallow DOF in the photo. It allows one to focus on soley on the cookie. But as has been mentioned by Dodgeinart it might have been better to turn the cookie slightly.

Textured shot: having seen the original first, I am not really feeling the texture, I think that it is more of a distraction and is dulling down the photo

I dont think you need more DOF. Lots of food shots have a small DOF. I think you need more COOKIE. Either prop it up or shoot from above.

Thumbs up

Your cookie is very tempting.

Yes turning the cookie sideways would have been a lot better.

I love this composition.
