Hey Harry,
I like the DOF but personally I think having the vein cut across the scene just brings the eye out of the photo. Did you shoot any from directly over top, or with the vein running only halfway through the picture?
Experiment with all different angles and watch what the angles and lines in the scene do to your eye as you view the photo on the 'puter screen.
