I took this picture of a crocus on my patio. I just purchase a Tamron 90mm 2.8f macro lens. What can I improve on besides holding still?

First of all, congratulations on your new lens!
It would help to have a little more info from your EXIF data: the shutter speed and f/stop. You mentioned something about holding still. Unless you have a lot of light and have very steady hands, it is often better to use a tripod. That way you can use a higher f/stop (and shoot at a slower speed) without worrying about camera shake. Where did you focus? The outer petals seem like they have most of the focus while the inner flower parts are out of focus. Is that what you wanted? Remember that macro photography creates a very limited DOF so your f/stop and where you focus is crucial. I'd also like to see more light. However, is this the lighting you were going for? It's a good idea to tell us what you were trying to achieve and what you'd like feedback on. But this is a good start. |
