Default Butterfly.

Hi All,

I am a new comer in DPS. And this is my first post. I would like to know how is this photo taken by me. I have taken few more photos which according to me is good so would like to get few comments on those also. I would post them one by one.

PLEASE NOTE NONE OF THE PHOTOS ARE PROCESSED AS I DO NOT KNOW PHOTOSHOP

About Me :
Name : Sourabh.
Profession : Software Engineer.
Location : India
Hobies : travelling (Our Travelling History and Geography....) and photography (My World Of Photography)

Camera Used :
Kodak Z 1015 IS (Point and Shoot Camera)

I am frustrated with being a software engineer. and want to now make photography as my profession. So instead of investing huge amount of money in buying a DSLR. Bought this camera to start of with basics. I hope I have taken a correct approach. I would be joining a class of photography in April.

Here I present in front of you some Macros. I request you to post give me as many suggestion as possible spanning from worst to best. After these critics help us grow.

DEAR MODERATOR, SINCE THIS IS MY FIRST POST, I AM NOT QUITE SURE AS TO WHETHER I AM POSTING THE RIGHT PHOTO IN THE RIGHT FORUM. PLEASE GUIDE ME IF I AM WRONG.

Thank You All,
Regards.

Hi Sourabh - I think it's a lovely shot.

I'm by no means an expert, in fact I only switched off the auto mode on my point and shoot camera less than a week ago, so I'm well and truly here to learn too, lol.

First of all, I think the background is really good, you've blurred it nicely, there's nothing distracting in it and it helps the subject stand out. The only other points I would mention is that the butterfly could be a little sharper and I think the composition would be stronger if you moved it out of the center of the shot - push it up a little higher and to the left, that might add a bit more action to the shot, make it look like the butterfly is getting ready to slide down the stick etc.

Good luck with your career change - I checked out your website and you've got some really nice photos there, I really like most of your people shots some of those look fantastic.

Edit: Here's what I mean by moving it off-center, I did a quick recrop of the image on your website and rotated it a little. The rotation also picks up the horizon and creates an interesting diagonal with it that I think helps the end result too.
