Always watch your background so it doesnt interfere with your main subject. Notice how the lines in the wondow sill lead you away from the roses?
I'd look for a simpler background.

I see what you mean. But what to do if it's not a possibility getting another background? Does it really disctract that much? to me the contrast of the colours keep the eye flowing.. but maybe you are right.. what if I take down the contrast of the line, so it's not so dominant??

You need to move in closer to fill the frame with the subject. That would eliminate the windo, you just have to watch that the light from the windo does not mess with the exposure. Try filling the frame with a single rose shot in close and tight.

hmm, you are properly right... I just can't help thinking that I didn't want a shot of one rose, but I wanted a couple of roses in the shot.. And i like the line the heads are making.. Is there another way I could have done it? maybe what I wanted just wasn't possible in this case..
