Default Outdoor fir tree macro

I think this is more accurately called "macro-style". I've done a set of these on flickr for the Guardian photography club assignment, and would greatly appreciate learning how I could improve (I've only recently taken photography up, and first macro shots were last month).

My Kind of Needle Point-0250

Camera: Nikon D60
Exposure: 0.033 sec (1/30)
Aperture: f/10.0
Focal Length: 55 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: +1 EV
Flash: No Flash

Full meta at flickr.

Overall I really like this shot but there are a couple of problems I see. The first one is that the end of the needles is out of focus. The second is that I thing the image is too bluish green. Perhaps you could make it just a little more red. You could maybe try using more vivid colors .

The composition is great. But the focus is out IMHO, if the tip of the branch was just in at F10 not only would it show the great detail there but also the needles back from there would gradually blur into the background.

thanks, Vivax. I had some with the tip in focus, but I preferred this one. It was actually trickier to get the middle few in focus with the kit lens (I assume it'd be easier with a longer focal length).
