Hi There,
I'm doing a school project where I have to critique people's pictures, so I chose to get a double whammy out of it and actually post my critique to help others improve their photography. My critique might sound a little odd as I'm presenting it to a teacher, but here we go: Exposure: This seems to be a very common thing among photographers – overexposure. I am a beginner myself, but after posting some other critiques, it has become very clear that people tend to overexpose. To fix this, try dialing down your exposure bias. I just looked up your camera and it looks like you have a very nice compact digital, which should allow you to do this. Focus: The focus is pretty spot on as the main object of the picture is the flower. Depth of Field: This looks fine overall. While there is somewhat of a science to this, it is more based upon creativity. Centered vs. Rule of Thirds: The center layout in this photo is pretty good. Feeling: Overall, I get a feeling like I just drank a glass of water (which is a good thing). However, the overexposure really damages this picture. Check out the link I attached to see what I would have done. Picasa Web Albums - wroljamesowens Hope this helps, James |
