Default HELP Exposure Comp - Manual Mode

For some unknown reason in Full Manual my exp comp is stuck on -2
I have been through the web and the manual and cannot work out how to adjust it.

It seems to be on some sort of auto setting

Any ideas for this dumb blonde?

You probably need to change the shutter speed and aperture to get a change in the exposure compensation when you are set to Manual.

dumb question here

In the other modes, I have full control. IE Regardless of aperture the comp does not change until I change it.

I always had this idea that full manual meant exactly that. I have only been using it for 4-6 mths and this is the one thing that catches me, especially when used with a flash

Is it the flash exposure comp? That would go to the last setting when a flash is reattached or turned on (for built in). Do a "camera reset". That should reset many (but not all) settings to factory default. I reset each time I turn the camera on any more to prevent me from leaving some setting goofy from the last use.

In manual mode, exposure compensation isn't activated-it's up to you to adjust shutter speed or apeture to compensate. Ken

Thats the answer I was looking for! So the expectation is the manual user doesn't require/ want the comp kick in. Makes sense, thanks Ken

I can set exposure compensation in M mode.Quite useful for older lenses that might meter brightly or a little too dark.

Yes it is.
But all it does is change when the camera tells you the exposure is *correct* based upon your settings (to include EV compensation).
