new to this kind of light

I put this picture on the animals/critique page so if that is not allowed I would like it to be in the Lighting section.

I used two 1200 Lumin CFL lights. One in the fan above and one in a lamp/clamp light. No flash

Flash: Off, Did not fire








Im trying lights for the first time.(an actual set up any way). Is this bad ? What can I do to make it better.(I know the pillow is distracting, besides that)

It appears your color balance is off a bit but that doesn't hurt the picture that much just makes it a little warm. I think your lights did fine for this subject with the face in focus. If you were wishing any sort of depth of field I think your lights will need to be brought in much closer. You are full open on a pretty fast lens and at only a 1/30 of of a sec shutter. You could gain a stop or two and go to iso 400 but still not a lot of wiggle room. So no, it is not bad. You noted the pillow. Continue to experiment with your lights and have fun! about the lighting. This one is PP, how is the light in this one compared to the original ? Does this lighting look right ? Obviously I am know heading into the critique arena, let me know if I need to move this. Thanks
