I have written several free tutorials on outdoor lighting. See them below.

This one is on subtractive lighting. Subtractive Lighting - PhotoCamel - Your Friendly Photo Forum

This one is on using sunshine bounced off of light colored buildings
Using Sunshine in Portraiture - PhotoCamel - Your Friendly Photo Forum

This one is on using a reflector outdoors to bounce some "wasted" light back into the shadows in order to lighten them up. Using Reflectors Outdoors - PhotoCamel - Your Friendly Photo Forum

Lastly here is one that I used sunshine as my kicker light and the daylight as my main light. Using Sunlight As a Kicker Light - PhotoCamel - Your Friendly Photo Forum
