Nonetheless, the shots you have captured with you setup are great. Keep it up. And keep on growing.
thank you for your feedback! i'd agree you probably cant compare them to a true studio setup but for people like me just starting out and learning/experimenting they seem to do a great job! adds so many more lighting options! trying to come up w/ some ideas on how to use it for a couple good maternity photo's of my wife before baby #2 arrives in the next couple months now !

Ahhhh! I have a 24"x36" softbox and found mounting it on my 430EX II speedlite a bit tenuous as the diameter of the opening of the speed ring was much larger than the speedlite and so left a big gaping hole for light to leak through. I hadn't even thought about using a towel or something to seal the gap...

Remember that closer(distance) the softbox is to subject the softer the light, further the softbox harder the light.

Nice pics.

i am testing so far w/ my off camera 16ft ettl cable and have on order my rf-602 wireless system so i can go wireless .......but now i just have to teach myself how to use the manual mode on the flash lots of learning and practice ahead of me!

What do you need to mount it to a speed light do you need an extra bracket... Like I have a standard light stand and an umbrella bracket.. How would I hook it up?

for my setup i have a standard light stand and one of these:

Amazon.com: Photoflex ACB222SM Adjustable Shoe Mount: Camera & Photo

bottom mounts to a tripod or light stand, it has hot shoe brackets for the speedlight (that slide back and forth) and has a mound for the softbox (that can slide up and down to adjust accordingly). works pretty good i think!

also i have one of these shoe mount multiclamps of theirs too to give you a little more flexibility of tilting the box up and down

Amazon.com: Shoe Mount Multiclamp: Electronics

there might be other ways to do this but this way seemed pretty simple to me and did what i wanted. i paired this w/ either my 16ft ettl cable or using my rf-602 wireless triggers (ridiculously cheap $30 but you have to go manual power only) and i'm good to go!
i can try and take a picture of my setup if anyones interested in seeing it all put together

Also does the softbox come with a speed ring? I am noticing that there are two hot shoes on this adapter. Does this mean you can sorta put 2 flashes one higher than the other on the setup ?

the medium one doesnt. but if you're just using it for a speedlight they have a very basic plastic speedring for $25-30 that i ended up getting. if you get the XS size then you get the speedring thrown in.

not really, no.....i'm not sure exactly why there are 2 hot shoe adapters. (since they are on a level plane with each other so you wouldnt be able to have one higher than the other.)

You can add your PW to the second mount...here's more from the Photflex website:

nice photos, what model and accessories did you have to buy to use your 430EXII? I am interested as I received yesterday the impact 2x umbrella kit and I may be able to use the same brackets and stands?
