Default Studio Kit and Ebay Triggers

I'm looking at getting the Interfit EX150 MKII studio kit for Xmas, it comes with PC sync cords but my D70s doesn't have a PC sync connector.

So I have a few questions...

1. Will an ebay wireless trigger kit be able trigger the studio lights? (For £35 a set of 1 trigger and 3 receivers would give me the ability to trigger two studio lights plus my SB600)

and if not...

2. I've not used PC sync before, I know there is a little hotshoe adapter, but it only has 1 input... would two lights require two inputs?

3. According to Interfit the lights have infrared sensors built in, so would a PC sync to one trigger the other when I shoot?

Cheers,

DHG

1. Yes. I do not know what cables come with the wireless recievers but it appears the EX150s will need a 1/4 phono plug.
2. If you go wired and use the hot shoe to pc adapter you can either a) use a splitter to run pc to both heads, or b) go wired to one unit and have the second unit trip from the flash of the first (optical slave)
3) No, not using the infrared sensor but yes using the optical sensor. According to Interfit, the receptor can detect both infrared or flash signals to trip the slave.

I've just ordered the generic brand ebay trigger. I'll report back when I test them out.

I have the Interfit EXD200 kit and I love it. I use the hotshoe adapter and then run the sync cord to just one of the lights. It will the optically trigger the other light. I have used it that way since I got it and it works really well. I want to go wireless but the way I am using it now works so going wireless hasn't been a big deal.

Thanks for the info Ray!

My wireless triggers arrived this morning. I only have one flash at the moment, so I had to test them all individually but they're all working. Now just 20 sleeps until Santa brings the studio lights

Looking them over my only negative comment would be the hotshoe fitting isn't as tight as I would like. The lock keeps the flash in place, but there is a bit of vertical play ...nothing to be too concerned about, I don't see it tipping over or coming loose when the light is on a tripod.

FYI the cost was £35.99 ($59USD)

Well, Santa came up trumps and I got my studio lights.

The ebay triggers fire them no problem

Here is a quick test shot...

Softbox camera right on 1/2 power, umbrella as fill on 1/4 (ish)
