Default Where do you put your softbox?

Where and how do you angle your softbox. So many people put it on the right and I was wondering why.

On a stand :P

It depends on what look youre going for, what other lighting you may have, the subject, etc.

LOL

I see so many people put the SB on the right and the reflector (or some other light source at reduced power on the left) Just wondering why. Does it matter where the catch lights are in the eye. Is one position more desireable over another?

I prefer the SB on the left so I don't run into it...LOL But I am wondering if I should just change my ways...

huh, i'm like you, I put mine on the left. Its 3x4 feet on a boom stand. I place it taller than the subject and tilted down (maybe 20 degrees?). It's about 4 feet to camera left and closer to the subject than the camera.

Weird, I have a tendency to put it on the left, but that may have something to do with the way our studio is set up. Either way, I usually try to shoot into the shadows.

Now I am not feeling so bad - everyone usually says right, until this thread. I am glad I am not on an island unto myself!
