Ack.. how come I never saw this thread!?
Me like strobism. Here are my contributions. My most "strobist" as I see it: ![]() This was taken at F/9 15 second exposure with the flash with a snoot (made from a rolled up manila folder!) camera left which fired at the beginning of the exposure. After the flash, I used two small flashlights to draw Mr. Light. The flash (my 430ex) was obviously off camera triggered by the canon infrared thingy on my camera(used that before I went radio). I triggered the camera with the cable shutter relase which was in myh left hand. That's it really. And this: ![]() Softbox w/580ex camera right and about 45deg pointing down. Canon 430ex fired full power with a Gadget infinity wireless trigger behind and pointing towards his back to get the rim light on his right cheek. Beam narrowed (can't remember how much) to limit the light. Reflector held by model to camera left for some fill in (especially on the eyes). My front door is the backdrop. Exif here And most recently: ![]() Canon 430ex flash shot through a huge umbrella (105cm I think) full power about 2 meters away very high and camera left. Large white reflector just out of frame by the subjects left arm. EXIF here. My goal this year is two flashes per photo.

Nice shots!!! Jim you took pics of Sir Mix Alot!?!? I just went from 2 flashes to 3.. I actually tonight in my Photography Class im teaching. I am going to let my students use thier cameras and shoot Christmas photos of their kids with my studio setup. I am excited and nervous at the same time it is gonna be allot of people. I will post pictures of the setups and if any one has me take pictures of them I will post those pictures also with the technical..
I did realize one thing I am really glad my hard box has wheels on it. 3 stands and brackets, 4 umbrellas, 2 back grounds, 3 trigger sets, clamps, and a backdrop stand are very very heavy!!! My co teacher is bringing his 2 AB800s, and backdrop stand with backdrops.. So we are going to be rocking 2 mobile studios!!!

I let my Photography class I am teaching at church. For fun for our last class before Christmas We brought our studio stuff in and let them have a ball. Note this a beginners class so I did allot for them. I set up the cameras but they did all the shooting and composition..
![]() Cameras were set to 1/160th shutter speed 200 ISO f5.6 Set up consisted of. 2 AB800s 1/4-1/8th power camera left and right with 43 inch shoot through umbrellas. 1 Canon 580 EX II 1/4th power flagged on backdrop. Triggered with Cactus v4's I really want some Alien Bees of my own.. I loved them not having to worry about batteries. However I still love the flexibility of speed lights. ![]() ![]()
