I really like the gel effect. Was this your first use of gel's after talking about it? You really need to buy a swatch book.

I became the proud owner of one SB-900 to add to my two SB-600s mid November. I got a chance to use everything for our family Christmas photos.
![]() SB-600 behind them shooting up at a white sheet, SB-900 in a 60 inch phototek softlighter camera right and high (awesome big light with quality similar to an Octa for much less $$$), and one SB-600 low and camera left through an umbrella for fill. Cool thread!

Can everyone post power settings as well. I'm trying to understand this the strobist thing but am struggling. My light always seems to fall on the subject and the background when I don't want it to. I tried shooting through the umbrella only removing half the black backing to act as a gobo that did not help. Thinking it was my SB600 mounted on camera bouning off the ceiling I tried settin a white board to the subjects left and bouning off of that. That made my pictures dark.
Maybe if I set up the SB600 on its stand up on a table opposite the umbrella. I'll have to give that a try.
