I shot some after-the-game shots with the 50mm, and they turned out fairly well. I was limited to one side of the field though, and I didn't think I would have enough reach with the 50mm, and the focusing seemed a bit slow in the low light conditions.

Something to try next time for sure! They are having another game in the next month or two so I might show up with the 50mm only and do some comparison.

This was a real learning experience.
Want me to tell you about all the times I've screwed up a set of photos? As long as we learn a bit each time we go out, right?

I'm going again to my daughter's volleyball game this afternoon. It's in a grade school gym, with fairly strong backlighting. It's really pretty darn easy for me to screw that up!

Best of luck to you then!

The good news is I sent the pictures around the office today, and my 'clients' were all very happy with the shots. So, in the long run, the people that I took the pictures for liked them. What more can I ask?
