Do you have to use the PC cord or can you just use it wirelessly?

Can you just put the transmitter on the camera hot shoe and does the receiver have a hot shoe for the flash? Or am I missing something?

Not quite sure what you're asking here.

I didn't understand what the pc-sync cord was for. It is for the older flashes that don't use the hot shoe, right?

And yes I did RTFA But the author doesn't discuss much about the performance of it. I know a big problem I read with the V2 cactus was failure to fire. Some reports said 25% or more. I gather from the article the V4 is better but he doesn't address that issue directly (or I need to learn to read).

More like if you want to take the trigger off the foot to avoid raising it on the stand, or if you want to use it with a studio strobe, like an AlienBee, which doesn't have a hotfoot.

Go look at the Strobist discussion thread for the V4s. Most folks are reporting favorably on the V4 performances. Given that it comes with an antenna, and the V2 hack to increase reliability was basically adding one, my guess is that this is more reliable than a V2, and the same as a modded V2.

Yippee...mine were at the house when I got in from work this evening. It is a little difficult to turn the receiver on/off when the flash is already in the hotshoe, but I can work around that. I can't wait for the weekend when I'll really be able to spend time. Now, I've got to get a softbox and stand.

:/ they haven't come in at work yet. I hope its tomorrow.

Edit:
March 26th:
I am getting depressed they are not hear yet again and it seems everyone on the web has already received theirs.

March 25th:
Nope not today either. I think it takes longer to get them shipped to work than home. Lesson learned. This happened last time it took a month for me to get a memory card.
