Default Lomography Ringflash on a D90

I know I won't get TTL or whatever, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any dangers about nuking circuits in either unit?
The ringflash that's supposed to go with the Holga and Diana does have a hotshoe so I could, at least in theory, mount it on a D90 and just blast away in manual- right?

you need to know the voltage its going to use...the older flashes use a higher voltage than the newer ones and could fry the flash circuitry in the d90.....
there are hotshoe protectors that can help in this regards.....
i would get the specs on each or try a repitable camera shop before playing around and trying it.......there is a way of taping up the contacats in the flash too to get the same effect of the hotshoe protector but im not that familiar with it all....I just know if it were me I'd find a ringflash that is compatible so that im not in any danger of messing up my camera!
Good luck with it and hope it works out for you....

Just a quick google search and I see that some are stating that Lomo Ring Flashes are utilizing a much higher voltage than most of todays cameras......

Sweet, thanks for the warning. It's a cool gadget but I'm also not sure if it's gonna work over my 67mm lens thread, cause it's made for the teeny holga plastic lens. Luckily I haven't bought the thing yet- still time to make a ghetto ringflash from a pie tin and PVC pipe.

I actually have the Lomography ring flash and love it with my Diana+. I haven't tried it with other cameras yet (although Santa may have a tasty LCA+ under the tree for me). So far I've been hesitant to try it on the D80. I will say, however, that the widest aperture for the Diana+ is f/11, and the ringflash is meant to work at that aperture close up. So we're talking a considerable amount of light for a cheap device. It would probably be worth figuring out how to tape the thing up . . . any suggestions??

Here are some of my early results from the Diana+ and Lomography Ringflash:

My favorite thing about the combo is that it takes snapshots to a whole other level. I was really getting blah about any shots where I could not completely control all the variables. The Diana+ has been a lovely exercise in letting go . . .
