Default Beginning Lighting

I've seen posts from individuals asking about their lighting set-ups after using a kit they've purchased and for the most part, I think a lot of it boils down to not really knowing lighting. I sometimes feel people are anxious to jump in and not really take the time to learn and perfect their craft starting at the very basic levels, with that being said, in addition to strobist.com, here's some references for starters.

http://cameradojo.com/category/lighting-tips/

http://www.photoflexlightingschool.c...ons/index.html - Although this is product based, the references would be applicable to any lighting.

That's a nice shot...it somewhat reminds me of the edits that jiminyClickit did on some of the photos from the Renaissance Fair.

Thanks, I'm definitely going to review those when I have time. I feel like I can handle a simple strobist approach, but when it starts getting complicated, I just can't seem to wrap my head around it sometimes.

I actually just decided to go straight up educational and hired a model to come out next week and put up with me doing a art school type figure study. Snap, move lights inch, snap, move lights an inch, snap....

Wow, yeah Lori, that link is awesome as far as explaining lighting setups. Whoever made that read my mind when it comes to how I visualize this stuff.
