I have a canon 580ex speedlite and I am looking for some tips and info on how to use it. I would also like some info on general single flash lighting tips.
Does anyone have any helpful info on this? Any help is greatly appreciated. Cheers!!! |

G'day Peelzy, I spent six hours shooting at a friends party last night, with some OK results with my 30D and a 580exII - When I use it in single flash mode, I hardly ever have it pointing directly at my subjects, instead having it bounce off something nearby to make the light a bit less harsh, or to even color the light a little - depending upon what I'm shooting.
I might try and make some time to do a little tutorial on this. Sime

Thanks Ken, I found your tutorial about flashing very helpful. Especially the description about the aperture and shutter selection effects.
I'm newcomer in the field of DSLRs and trying to learn more about photographing. Before, with my previous cameras, I have tried to avoid use of flash until the very end. I also thought that I would absolutely need fast lens for interior shooting to avoid the flash or high ISO. With help of your tutorial I can now get rid of my "flashfobia". |

I love the stuff that Neil has written. Been reading him for a long time. Some great advice.
