Is anybody using the Elinchrom EL 26186 69" Rotalux Octa Softbox? I like that it folds like an umbrella...
It is tow or three times more than a comparable product. Is the light coming from it so much better? I would like to use it with my profoto heads. I would like to use it on location. Do you like it if you are using it? Here is the link: Elinchrom EL 26186 69" Rotalux Octa Softbox EL 26186 B&H

I haven't used the Elinchrom you mention, but I use the Profoto 5-foot Octa very very much, and that is my most used light modifier in my arsenal of stuff.
Recently I bought the Profoto Umbrella XL (silver) and diffusor panel, they are cheaper than the Octa and in the same price class as the product you have been looking at. I have just tried it a couple of times, without the diffusor, but my initial feeling is that it will be very useful. Not as sophisticated as the Octa, but lighter and faster to assemble. If I didn't already own the large Octa, I would go for the white umbrella, but with a diffusor mounted, I think the light will be similar to the Octa. |
