Hi all,
got some Cactus V4's yesterday and am having an issue I hope some one can shed some light on. Basically the receiver works just fine and triggers my SB-700 when the transmitter is fired (via the test button) off the camera. However, once placed on the camera (D40), it is virtually impossible to trigger the flash, whether by the test button or by the shutter button, except when the transmitter is held ridiculously close to the receiver. It should be noted that the LED on the transmitter lights up when triggered on camera. Has anyone experience this before, or have any ideas as to the problem? I'm pulling a blank on this one. Thanks.

Definitely sounds like the batteries. Change them in both the transmitter and receiver and retest. I have seen this countless times. People have actualy went and baugh other triggers because they were frestrated then they changed the bateries on the v4 and it works fine. The batteries that come with it really of just for testing and thats about it. They are very crappy bateries.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I changed batteries in both transmitter and receiver, and the same problem remains, i.e. when the transmitter is placed on camera, its ability to trigger the receiver falls off dramatically. Seems to me that the camera is putting a load on the trigger, draining its power somehow, but I can't figure out how or why. As I said before the LED on the transmitter does light up when the shutter release is pressed, but the signal isn't getting to the receiver. -ATB.
