Default A little trick I employed here...

Had a very contrasty lighting situation for this shot of Ashford Castle so I metered off the grey stones for my exposure. I will often use this technique, and it has rarely let me down (that's my wife shooting some of the flowers)

Very nicely done. The exposure looks just right. Did you use the grey stones as if they were a grey card?

very nice, I especially like the second shot.

but how do i fit a stone wall in my bag to meter from the next time -can I use just a single brick? Oooh put a logo on 'em and sell them on the internet...light stand ballast AND gray card. Get back! I thought of it first....

i know, i know... "try decaf".

Very cool trick Vince! I never really thought about that. I usually use grass when I am outside, but it gives varied results. I am going to have to give this a shot next time.

Hope you don't mind me saying, your wife is very attractive!

thanks Luke, I tell her that all the time, but like most women, she doesn't thinks so, and always hates how she looks in photographs. BTW, when grey is not available I've also had reasonable results finding mid-toned neutral colors off the side of a building that seems to work.
