Default Ambient/Natural vs. Artificial?

For you personal work what would you prefer most of the time, ambient/natural or artificial (strobs)? At least right now...

Right now, I love the feel of authentic lighting when I possibly can, which right now is very difficult with my current only zoom lens lowest aperture is 3.5-5.6 but hope in the future with upgrading to better lenses will get more opportunities to shooting more natural/ambient lighting photos than my current set of work being mostly artificial/strobs. Unless I could play with certain lighting filters to place on my studio and portable strobs to change the white balance temps to make them look like ambient or/and natural light.

50" softbox with a hotshoe flash in close to the subject and feathered to the front. Boom, window light.

I definitely prefer to use natural light, but I do have my speedlight and my AlienBee for when that's not possible.

For my personal stuff I like using strobes, wide angle, and smaller apertures.

I have not used a flash in years. I did use a min-maq flashlight a couple of times over the past few years

Ambient. I'm carrying enough crap as it is, without having to haul the lighting bag along as well.

I never ask my photons where they came from. I think it's rude.

But mostly brought light for studio and portrait work; mostly ambient for landscapes* and wildlife.

* Though I'd love to light paint a mesa like Dave Black did.

I don't care, as long as it is beautiful.
