Default how to light a Christmas tree lighting

Alright..going to see if I can get any advice before this evenings events. I am set to capture some shots of the christmas tree lighting ceremony. My question is I have the capability to make this more than just a snapshot of a couple of people turning on the lights of a big christmas tree. I have two flash units available but I am unsure of what I could do lighting wise. Any suggestions/comments/ideas?

Good luck with that. I don't have any input as to how to light a tree, but I did find two links and posted a couple of days ago. Give it a peek, it may help.

If you've got an assistant and can trigger your flashes off camera then use that to your advantage.

Take pictures of the reactions on the kid's faces. Maybe a few shots of people with the lights blurred out in the background.

Treat it like a photojournalistic type assignment. It's about the lights but you want to capture the emotions behind the event.

Just my two cents.
