However with lighting there is no right or wrong way of doing things. It all has to do with what kind of feel are you trying to portray with the image. For example this is my normal portrait setup I use for kids and studio portraits. Large softbox camera left creating classic rembrant lighting then fill on the right with a lower powerd light.. Gives it some demention. I never like having light equal on both sides. So with a reflector you could of also created this type of light. Note you still can barly see the tringle of light to on his left lip/cheek area. Its just filled in some. ![]() JJ by Brian Hursey, on Flickr

Thanks for the advice. I think that is the direction I'll be going once I finish the other light and make a few more changes to my basement. Right now, it is a light sucking cavern.
I think having my lights at different distances/locations in the room will make for an interesting journey as I figure out what works best in that space. |

:P i don't have off-camera flash, so this is my trial using 1 on-camera flash. It is very fortunate to able to find a a friend of mine as my model ;D
Single light source of On-camera flash with diy black card to learn key triangle, kicker, family of angles, cropped to 100% and using Lightroom high contrast preset without post-production
